Looked through some of the limpet threads and did not see one just like this. Anyone have a positive id? TIA! IMG_3431.JPG

The shape is kind of limpet-like, but it really looks like an orange chocolate chip?

I'm not even certain how that picture was taken but the results made me want a chocolate chip cookie.

Probably a limpet. Picture of the foot!

Edit, and how big is that monster? I can't really tell from the photo 1mm or 1 inch :)

Mmmmmm....cookies.....

Haha the pic is from the outside of glass. I will try to stop flow and get a better pic of the top of the hitchhiker.

Then it's neither a chocolate chip or a limpet if that is the foot!

Is it moving around? It kind of looks rough on the surface, could it be a sponge?

Edited the wrong post, I've got cookies on my mind: How big is this thing? :)

It is a pic of the foot and it does move around....slowly. It is about the size of a chocolate chip, actually :) Best pic I can get right now. It has some weird filter "tentacles" as you can hopefully see. IMG_3433.JPG

I can't ID it but I'd send you down the path of slugs before I go starfish or limpets...

Agree with @terraincognita. These tend to have specific dietary needs, and some eat corals. If you can't figure out what it is, take it out is generally the recommendation if you have corals. They don't bother fish.

They are no good with chocolate chip cookies either. Nudibranch.

Much better picture second time. :)

So I removed and tried to take a close look. It had a hard shell like a snail, but I could not really determine what kind or what else it could have been. Since I just took a whelk out yesterday, I went ahead and removed to be safe. Appreciate the responses! This site has been great for a new reefer.
