I’m guessing these are limpets. Is there a problem with the large number of them and is there a way to reduce or eliminate them?

Nothing to worry about as this small species is completely harmless and a good member of the 'CUC (Clean Up Crew) that eats micro algae and biofilms.

I had many like this when I first started my reef aquarium, but over maybe half a year they subsided to a much smaller population of maybe a dozen or so. Over a few years time, they actual became quite scarce.

I have a very large colony myself and there wonderful cleaners!!!!! If you don’t like them just scrape them off the glass and freeze them that’s the most humane way of dealing with them but odds are someone in your area would be really interested!!!
