Line outside instead of CO2 Scrubber?

Instead of a C02 scrubber, does anyone run a tube from their skimmer to a crawlspace or to outside? If you have, have you put anything on the end to keep bugs out?

I would think fresh air line is much more common …. when I ran one, I upsized the line and put a screen on the end. Not so worried about bugs; more rodents (fished a dead mouse out of my sump on two occasions).

Agree with above. Never had issues with rodents or anything getting through the line but depending on where you live should consider possible pollutants getting in, pesticides etc. Some of it can be mitigated by running carbon but not all.

I ran a 1/2 RO line through the wall into the attic, connected using a murlock adapter to 3/4” pvc that goes over to the soffit vent. This increase my PH from 8 to 8.11. I did not put anything to cover the end as it’s actually inside the soffit. I guess something could get in there but no issues over 8 months

I run skimmerless now, but when i ran one i always ran the airline ourdoors. I would point it down. Never covered it never had an issue.
+1 on being aware of the environment. Be mindful of car exhaust nearby, or lawn fertilizer, or heating system exhaust, etc.
If i run a skimmer again, its definitely having outside air returned.
Absolutely the best PH balancer imo. Natural beats chemical.

Well, it was a long run so to reduce friction loss I used 3/4" PVC. Easily big enough for a mouse. That's not how the mice ended up in my sump, I just didn't want one dying in there.

Mine draws air from my attic, tank is on the second floor. I drilled a hole in the top plate, dropped a 10' stick of 3/4 pvc down the wall. The pipe is behind the tank, I cut a hole and I used an "old work box" to trim it out. Capped the end of the pipe behind the tank, drilled a hole in the cap for the airline tube to fit snugly. The end in the attic is open, if I was concerned about pests, I'd add a 3/4" bulkhead strainer.

Result is a .1-.2 bump in pH with no media to replace or any other maintenance.

1/2 inch from skimmer air intake to 1 1/2 pvc threw window. I actually removed glass panels and cut plexi and used hole saw for hole then silicone plexi in
