I get my coral from a wholesaler that basically gets his coral from the source. Direct shipped from the country, I purchased a couple chalices one is oviously an alien eye chalice. The other looks exactly like a bubble gum monster, since both corals obviously didn't come from people who named them are they still the same corals? Can I call them what they obviously what they are? Or would they be just nice chalice

Lineage would be to a vendor who has aquacultured it. Where as the name is different, For example every vendor has their own version of a watermelon, so you could still call it a watermelon if it is one... If that makes sense.

I wouldn't think it would be ethical to refer to a lineaged coral unless the coral was actually purchased from the person who named it...or unless the coral can actually be traced back to that person. In other words, an aquacultured coral, purchased from a wholesaler, that looks identical to a Tyree coral, ISN'T a Tyree coral.

+1 to both of these. I think you can call it by the common name (assuming it's a fairly common name) as long as you make it clear that it's not an aquacultured piece and don't add anyone else's name to it. The watermelon example that Paul used is a good one, but let's say it looked just like a jack-o-lepto...I'd be careful about using that name since it is associated specifically with Jason Fox.

So basically of course I couldn't call it tyree alien eye. But I could call it an alien eye still without the tyree name ?

Alright, wait.
1) "Alien eye" is a general descriptor these days for purple base with green eyes. Nothing more.
2) It doe NOT look at all like BGM. A couple examples (with lineage) of the real deal below
3) It's not obvious any frag is the same as the original unless the lineage can be traced. One coral might be similar to another, but it's not the same if it didn't come from the same original mother.

Exactly.

So basically I could name it ?
Yes. What you have is a wild collected original.

The picture you attached guessing is the alien eye. Which as mentioned is a generic name. Green eyes with or without a green rim on a single colored base are referred to as alien eye. If it is a named alien eye it generally has a word or name in front of the alien eye description. Bubble gum monster (BGM) guess you did not attach picture of has become more common. But unless it has direct lineage to the named colony it can not be truly called BGM.
