If the W is not lit up, then the wireless is not functioning. Are you sure they are the wireless model? The non wireless still comes with the W (same housing) it just doesn't light up as it does not have the RF module.

Wireless Vortechs all have the W lit up. If you’re not sure, open up the Vortech controller to see whether or not you have an RF chip in there.

So definitely open up the controller to check... if it’s not lit up, you’ll have to replace the faulty chip anyway. Did you buy it new or used?

Bought new a year ago. Was hooking up another radion to Reef link. Figured I'd hook them up and noticed both of them were not lit up

Were they ever lit up? Prior to trying to have them hooked up to the reeflink, were you ever able to set up a master and slave relationship between the two pumps by using just the controllers? Are they still in the warranty period?

Honestly can't remember. I want to say no. Two more weeks Bea year so I'd say there still under warranty. Never set them up master slave. Just set them up to run

Then get on the horn with Ecotech immediately and file a warranty claim ASAP. That’s a lot cheaper than forking over $45 per chip.

I do find it strange however that both pumps would have faulty chips simultaneously... but if they don’t light up, then I’d assume they’re both faulty. Another thing to check, when you file the claim, when you get your receipt, did you pay $235 or $285 per pump? The higher price is obviously the wireless version.

Gonna a email them with serial numbers when I get home. Had lfs get them. He priced the wrong to me and honored it. Way underpriced I bought both for 420.

Probably have to if I don't hear anything tomorrow. I have to get serial number when I get home so they can verify if wireless or not.

You could easily identify if it’s wireless or not by opening up the controller and seeing if there’s an RF chip in there... it’s just a matter of removing 3 screws. :)

Looked at box there "wireless capable" which I assume doesn't have a rf chip. So guess I can order those

They take about 30 seconds to put in, if you take your time. When they're installed correctly, you'll have an area of the RF board that extends beyond the mainboard. That's 100% normal. Unplug the power to the controller, remove the three screws in the back, properly orient the RF board and firmly push it into place, put the back on, install the three screws, push the control button back on (it'll come off, that's also 100% normal), plug the power back in, and the W will be lit up. At that point, EcoSmart and your ReefLink will find it. Just make sure you have a handy little place to put the screws so they don't roll all over your desk or onto the floor or whatever. No need to crank down on the screws either - you're just keeping the back on, not trying to make it air-tight. :)
