Hi all, I haven't used Ecotech in the last 5 years or so. Before Mobius was a thing. I've read so many titles and comments about how bad Mobius is, but I now officially understand from personal experience how bad Mobius is.
It seems like I have the choice of using one of Ecotechs 4 premade programs (that are actually designed more for the lights than the pumps based on the names of each). There is no option in the presets to run anti sync or sync mode like they used to have on the app. There's no way to position the pumps on a virtual tank like you used to be able to.
As far as I can tell you can't even choose reef crest or lagoon or anything via the app. You can make custom programs or upload one from the internet but it seems like a ton more work than is necessary. I just want premade 24 hour settings designed for specific corals/fish. I'm not a marine engineer with a phd in marine biology. I'm not trying to tweak my pumps/lights every day. I want to set it to something logical that is easy for me to understand and leave it there. Am I missing something? Is there a better way to control these pumps? Is there a premade file I could download with settings someone is confident in?
It seems like everyone in the business side of things is in it for the cash grab. Invent one new component or software piece, sell it, then dip. Because of that all these companies have a bunch of half baked ideas that never fully pan out. We need more companies like Royal Exclusiv that are in it for the long haul. At least the German companies seem to strive to improve their products over time. All the US companies seem to strive for is to make their production process and bottom line cheaper so their ROI is higher on each unit. That means every year the products actually get cheaper and in many ways worse. The reduction in price never seems to find its way to the end consumer.
With Bertram buying everyone in site, and ecotech dropping a gen 6 that's no different than the 5th gen, I fear we're now entering iPhone territory where every year they drop the same product with a couple super minor "enhancements" and then drop bank on influencers to convince everyone they need the new one. Why not spend that money on making better products?
Sorry for the long winded stream of consciousness. Who knows about Vortechs and the best way to run them for SPS?
Cheers
