I recently saw a Liopropoma multilineatum go up for sale for a pretty good price and was wondering if they're similar to other Liopropoma? What's your experience with this species? They remind me of a budget L. africanum or L. tonstrinum which is why I like them so much

I certainly wouldn't call them a budget version of either of those 2 species you mentioned, just because the other 2 have an arbitrary higher price tag. I had a L. multilineatum that I enjoyed, seemed to have a beefier body type compared to some of the other Liopropoma species. Very vibrant orange when happy, outgoing enough but still a rock dweller. Pics are on a crashed computer and detail in pics don't do them justice.

Oh definitely, maybe "poor man's" is a better term since it looks similar, but has a much lower price tag than the other two.
Yeah that's what I'm kind of worried about since I'm not sure if it'd be big enough to take down any smaller fish (smallest fish in the tank is a Pink Streaked Wrasse. I doubt one could take it down but I've had crazier stuff happen). This is one I was looking at, or a Biota Gramma Dejongi if those go on sale, either one would fit really nice in my NPS Tank which is where I'm intending to house it.

Not aggressive in any way, would be great in a nps tank, likely even more outgoing in a tank not so brightly lit. Mind you these don't come around that often, and I've only seen the one I had..

I haven’t had one in my personal reef but I have had some come in in an LFS, they are relatively easy compared to some of the deep water basslets that come in. If you have the chance I would take it, they’re a gorgeous basslet in person and really are worth it. As Lion King said, they’re an outgoing species but generally still hide close to the rocks, similar to the Firefish (Nemateleotris species). It’s unlikely they’ll munch on smaller fish as these guys are already quite small and their mouths really aren’t that big.

Hmm i think you guys convinced me, I'll see what the tank is looking like for a bit and then order one. Hopefully it's the yellow variant that shows up sometimes, I wonder if lower light is the key to having that yellow stay since I heard it usually fades away in captivity
Edit: So it's not a WYSIWYG, but the one they keep showing off IS the Yellow Variant. I'll ask if that's the one thats for sale, I'd love to grab it

How did it go? I grabbed one just now.
Unfortunately I didn't grab it. The price went up by $100 since it is the rarer yellow variant, and I didn't feel like the tank was ready for more fish at the time, let alone one of that rarity and price. Goodluck with yours! I think I still might get one when the corals have grown out a bit

Im guessing this is just the ordinary "normal" phenotype right?
Looks to be the Yellow Phenotype to me. The ‘normal’ phenotype has a completely red body.
