I’m still planning a long term stocking list for my 3’x16”x1’ tank. So far these are the fish I’ve come up with;
- Pseudocheilinops ataenia trio
- Wetmorella tanakai pair
- Centropyge multicolor
I want to keep numbers lower however, due to lower numbers I’d like for them to be rare or on the rarer side of uncommon fish. I have a book about different hawkfish, basslets, dottybacks and other families. In this book I came across the genus of Lipogramma and specifically the L. klayi stuck out to me due to its smaller size. L. trilineata is also a nice species however I prefer the klayi. Any information on either of these two Lipogramma species in captivity would be great!!
If you think this species would be a bad move then I would love to hear some alternatives.

P.S. In the tank I plan for SPS and Atleast one Clam (Currently I have a Deresa residing in the tank).

The three that you have listed sound like a nice choice. The Wetmorella I have and although small its one of my favorites. It just roams and bobs around and picks at the rocks. I think that it is eating some montipora nudibranchs too. The angel is mostly herbivore.

if you’re planning a bright sps system…
lipogramma/liopropoma might not be the best species to house in such a system.

these are deep water fish that prefer subdued lighting.
you might not see them as often in highly lit systems…
which would be a shame given the price.

if you want the fish more than the sps,
then i’d roll with a moderately lit lps system

I don’t mind having a fish I may not see as often (I already have that with 7 others in the tank). My aim is the rarer fish over the common fish but minimal fish (Both to have more room for coral growth - Larger colonies - but also for the fish to have enough room and be the show pieces).

right on brotha…
in that case, be sure to liberally place some rockwork around.
will make em feel comfortable in a brightly lit system
