Just to share what my Lismata Shrimp does, maybe it explains some Turbo death you may find in your tanks


I don’t really know if this is the proper place to post this info, if not, please someone let me know, so it gets more useful for those who don’t know it yet .

I'm gonna say the snail was dead and the shrimp moving in for a free meal, I have turbo and those shrimps in my tank for years and none of them were eaten alive by the shrimps. Technically the shrimp was run away when the turbo snail approached them at night time.

That’s what many said when my shrimp did it the first time, that the snail was dead or about to

The “Burrié” snail was alive and healthy as the first one

It’s my second snail he kills

Look the first one, the snail was eating some red Algae and the shrimp attack him

I didn’t believe at first too, only when I saw my recorded WiFi camera was that I knew how it happened


This last video, was his first attack and killing, and it’s amazing how worried my clownfish act and look

Even my local reefers friends thought it wasn’t him

It took almost 9 months for him to make his first killing

I guess my last snails add was from a more peaceful and not so well prepared species to face the shrimp

These are the ones I am talking about

Tonight a Turbo turned upside down when he felt from a rock, and a Nassarius got closed to him, but it was the shrimp who eat him :-(
Is there something I can do?

So many months with no shrimp attacks and now this

Maybe I will wait a wile before I buy new Turbos and nassarius

Start feeding the shrimp daily. If you keep him fed well he wont go after the snails as much

Yes that’s another thing I was going to do

I have always been careful no to feed them to much as I only have 4,5 g water

But now I am going to feed him twice a day with a pipette, so I don’t get much food waste that could spoil my water
