Im dont have a low enough test kit but i cant tell the if my phosphates are going down due to the algae is still doing good?? Im sure if i got a good test kit, it would say + you got phosphates.Thing is rowaphos has been running for 2 weeks and no signs of slowing the algae down. I have rubbed some of the algae off the rocks to break the cycle but comes back??? I used 100ml of rowaphos on lets say 57g tank. 40g B with sump. I will probably go get some phosgaurd an fill my upstream reactor up with it to get this in check!!! thanks for the help everyone. \
I would try out BRS GFO but i cant wait for them to ship it to me. It would be 4-5 days before it got to me.

Phosguard. Works quick and is amazing. Does make water a little cloudy though regardless of how much RO you run through it.

How often do you change out phosguard??
Itll depend on how much phosphate you have. On some sytems youll initially have to replace it almost weekly just to bring down the phosphates to a manageable level. Typically youll replave ot when you stop seeing a decrease in phosphates.. or start seeing an increase

My phosphates read 0 on salifert and Hannah checker but I know it's getting used up and that's why it's reading 0....do I just keep swapping it out until it's readable?

I just place the whole bottle of phosguard"250ml" in my Reef octopus reactor and it has great movement. Also my water is not cloudy at all for me. Ill be running this until NOV. trying to get the water CLEAN & PURE. haha. With two bags of AC,250ml of phosguard, and reef octopus 110 running we should get everything just RIGHT.

75 gallon mixed reef, with low-medium bio load.
I use about 100-120 grams of BRS GFO in my reactor, get great results change every 30-45 days.

wait for an hour or two after your lights are off (turn off the fuge/sump light if you have one as well) then test and see what you get.

1. Skimmer
2. Regular continuous water changes via litermeter (1-2% per day)
3. Additional detritus siphoning (I'm bare bottom)
4. kalk (precipitates a little P)
5. GFO if needed, but haven't needed it in a year or two
6. Vinegar if needed, but haven't needed it in a year or two (and it's better for N than P)

about once every 2 months I drop in about .75Ml of Lanthanum Chloride into my filter sock for phosphate removal.

Oh Yeah Po4............... Lifereef SVS30-30 does the job for me.
Po4 at 0.04 or 0.02 depends for what I feed the fish.

Bacteria and carbon dosing hass been keeping my po4 low in a 130g system with 25 fish. Haven't ran gfo in 6 months and I get readings of .02-.04
