Weird/Cool! Tagging along out of curiosity.
My first thought was tunicate, but I doubt thats right.

Edit: Is there a single siphon at the end of that tube?

There is a single mouth like structure on the end. Bizarre how it looks like it burst out of the tightly packed polyps. I'm at work but curious if it retracts as the lights ramp up.

When my goby burries my palys/zoas under the sand for a few days the stalks get near transparent and long, lose their frilly tops like that top. Usually comes back after a few days. Just food for thought - it could definitly not be what im suggesting lol

Got home from work and it was gone and the hole was closed up. Some nearby clove polyps are closed though. I wonder if there was some sort of battle last night that caused it.

It was NOT gone. It released and was shriveled up and stuck to my powerhead. I removed it and sent down the toilet.
