Lithium...

Thanks for the link! So, of the two papers referencing the adverse effects of lithium on sea urchin embryos, the first one (Ciapa, et.al.) is discussing 80 mM of lithium which is around 555 PPM, or more than 3000 times NSW levels. The second paper (Becchetti & Whitaker) discusses 400 mM, so now we're talking 15,000 times NSW levels!!!

Somehow, I don't think it is correct thinking to extrapolate from these papers that a salt mix having, say, 2-3 times (or even 10 times, for that matter) NSW Li levels is a threat to urchin embryos. Are there other studies that indicate significant toxicity at Li levels that are likely to be found in common commercial salt mixes?

Great post...checking about lithium excess on Triton Test and IO and RC salts. So basically with 500 ug/l there is nothing to worry about ...
Thanks!

IO and RC salt user...I have 5 different tanks, Lithium is consistent in all of them
