Hey guys!
i acquired a very beautiful Litophyton coral half a year ago. It has been growing very well and is getting substantially bigger every month.
So I soon have to frag it. Now my question is, if I can trim it back slightly while it still is in the tank?
It has attached itself to a big rock with other corals on it and it would certainly not be easy to lift the entire rock out.
Though I know they release toxins and I am running activated carbon constantly. Is that enough to pull out the toxins from cutting it, before other corals get hurt?
I mean, if there is no way around it I will take out the rock entirely, but more convenient solutions would certainly be preferred.

Thank you very much in advance!

GL! Tell us how it went. Post pics, if you can (before/after, for example).

I have a Lythophyton Arboreum myself. Not a big one, but I hope it grows big eventually.

Thanks!
I will do that. Mine has been growing a lot and they are very hardy in my experience. I really like it :)

It’s a little more pink than on the photo.

I will try and cut it on the weekend when I do the next wc.

Hey guys!
I just wanted to update you. I trimmed my Litophyton on the weekend and it worked out pretty good, the trimming itself was super easy.

Here it is before the cutting again:

Thats the coral right after cutting:

And that‘s how it looked today (two days after):

You can see it’s still a little shriveled up, though all the other corals look perfectly normal! Seems like it had no side effects regarding the toxin.
I am happy and confident the Lito will look just like it did before.

Greetings,
Addi
