Curious about these neat little fans that I've just noticed on my small piece of LR. They quickly twist back and forth, and then duck back into their hole from time to time. Thanks for looking!

Your picture isn't loading for me, but your description sounds like a feather duster.....different colors and sizes.

Here's a picture, hopefully this works!

I considered that it might be a type of duster, but the fact that the fan is "flat" - doesn't have a crown - made me think otherwise.

I had one of these neat little guys years back in the middle of a galaxea coral that I eventually ended up losing....curious as well, doesnt seem like the standard duster....
 
They do pull in from time to time. After a little bit of reading and photo browsing, I agree with Barnacles.
