These little orange dots have been popping up on the surface of my rocks. This one has the heaviest amount, it’s in one of my lower flow zones, but it’s present throughout.

I already went through my diatom phase, and have been dosing a small amount of phyto since I got my pods so aside from a small phyto bloom which subsided in a couple of days after I adjusted the dose, there hasn’t been any other kinds of algae growing.

I am not seeing orange dots, just green algae

I swear it looked more orange in person but now that I’m looking again it is a brownish green. Is this type of algae a normal part of cycling a new tank?

Looks normal to me.

So the growth has continued as predicted, but I’m confused because my snails are back and forth nibbling on this rock all the time, but it doesn’t go away.
