I have a AI prime HD over my 36 gallon bow front, I've had the light for about 2 1/2 years. So for the last month or 2 my light has been randomly shuting off for a few minutes at a time then it turns back on, and it did this several times a day. I have never done any maintenence or anything to the light. I noticed a nice 1/4 inch layer of "debris" dirt, lint, general filth accumulating on top of the light for quite some time but didn't think twice about it.

Well most people are smarter then myself and probably know this already, but eventually I cleaned off the screen on top of the light that Essentially filters particulate matter from the air that the fan pulls thru the light to keep it cool. I believe it was so clogged up that the light was overheating and causing it to shut off as a protective measure. The light works fine now.

I'm sure this is common knowledge to most, but I just thought I'd throw it out there incase other people have this problem too!

Thanks for reading...lol

Been there. I now clean them 2x a year... ;)
