Little red thing

Also, for the OP.
Here are some pics of formanifera. hard to the touch. Not soft.
If it is soft, it is an algae. Didn't appear soft to me.

Found on wet web media.

Isn't coralline hard though? It's an algae

They are visible in his picture.
If we're talking about the two little white things on the left in the first picture, I don't think that's enough to make a definitive decision. The pictures are good enough to do a through palm-reading though! lol

I can understand why most over look these guys. They don't grow in light. Only time I find them is when I am flipping live rock over.

+1 forams or foraminifera. It looks distinctly more like this to me than like coralline algae, but my experience is still pretty limited...

i cannot tell if those are sweepers or just reflection, but the surface looks calcified
I cannot tell for sure either, but it looks to me like there are spikes like forams and does not have the same calcified appearance to me.

@Streetlamp should be able to look up pictures of coralline algae and forams to compare to what is in the pictures earlier. It is likely that it can be viewed in more detail and compared to pictures than what can be captured in a picture for us to use for exact ID.

Thanks for all the replies. I’ll try get better pics. Those formanifera pics look more like it. It isn’t like any of the coralline in my tank which is crusty. This appears more life form like if that makes sense.
