Little reef hermits ate my Coralline :(
I bought some new live rock and one rock with a 4x4 inch orange coralline, it looked awesome. 3 days later, its all gone?? I did notice a crab once and a while there, could they really clean it all off? I can't even see a spec of it. I have a bunch of green coralline they don't touch? and is doing well

1. Do I kill my crabs and feed them to my wrasse?
2. What do I put there place, for the clean up crew. I got 20 snails, and 10 reef hermits, and 1 emerald crab.
3. How important is Strontium?

The orange Coralline was so cool I wanted my whole tank covered in it :(
I am new to reefing and have 4 healthy zoa frags in my tank :)

:) great thank you
I'm so happy I found the orange algae growing in my sump! So I took a small portion of it and scratched the heck out of it to try to spread it in my sump. This orange stuff looks amazing under a blue light

side question

Strontium? Do I need to worry about it? Test/supply it? for coralline?

I wouldn’t worry about it. Just stick with a good water change regimen and you’ll see it take off. Key is having stable waters. Hope this help!!

Not trying to hijack the thread, but I have a new tank and need some coralline. I just got a few snails that have it on their shells. Will this be enough to make it take off in my tank or should I scrape some off the shells to get it moving around?

It will eventually make its way in the system as the snails scrape there shells on rock work. But you can speed the process up a little if you scrap it off it’s shell.
