I need help they are everywhere. I seen a few here and there but now they seem to be reproducing quickly There are so many now that when I was showing a friend my tank he said you really like star fish huh. How do I get rid of them?

are you talking about asterina starfish?

either manual removal or a harlequin shrimp will eat them, but they are specialized feeders and only eat starfish so to keep him alive long term you will have to buy starfish for him to feed on

Yep that's the guys. They don't seem to be hurting anything but they are gettinga little out of control. Thanks

watch out for the ones that have green on them they will eat your corals the white ones are really good cleaners they will limit their reproduction when food sources diminish

They specifically like to eat zoas and palys! A harlequin shrimp will eat them but you will need to have a constant supply of starfish in order to keep the shrimp alive long term. In my club we have traded one around from tank to tank.

I agree. I've had them for many years and never had an issue with them and corals. They are a good part of your cleanup crew. Their population will ebb and flow as your tank needs. I also have hundreds of them tiny baby brittles too.

I have lots of them and they will def aggregate zoas and palys...as far as eating them I've not experienced that but they sure do annoy me. So I got a harlequin and he's working on it!!!
