Live Aquaria DD prices

What is with DD prices? Everyday I go on there they seem to go up like 25%.

I have stopped buying from them after they were bought out by Petco, as the quality of products has decreased exponentially. They literally sold hair algae for $60, no joke. I had the exact species plague my tank once, not fun. And not to mention the insanely overpriced inverts! $30 for a hitchhiker crab, and nearly $400 for a 2" BTA? I am very sad they have gone to the dogs when it comes to quality, and I hope they can recover from chronic greed.
I do still check DD every day though, so I can get ideas of what I want my LFS to order for me.

I know they raised prices and made some changes like 6 months ago but it seems they are getting even more expensive now with corona....I wonder if the fish actually cost more or they just taking advantage because of the lack of fish out there right now.

I just got a fully quarentined long-nosed hawkfish from TSM Aquatics for $45

DD has a few up right now for $90.

So... twice the price with no QT? No thank you.

And that my friends is economics 101! Lack of fish means more expensive for what is there. Do everyone here a favor and don’t buy at these inflated prices. Passing until the price comes down is our only influence on the market. Problem with buying at the inflated price is it makes them think it’ll be ok to price them there even once things smooth out.

Candy Basslet a few weeks ago was $679. Have seen the at $799 since last week. A juvenile Koran angel at $129 when I got mine 2 years ago for $30.


Anyone want to buy a transitioning Koran? 6 1/2” to 7” for only $10,000! That’s my I really don’t want to sell it price. My 3 yr old might be upset since she claims it’s her fish. But for $10,000 we will get past it.

I did not believe these prices until someone mentioned this last week and yesterday I checked....$80 for a toby puffer, bought mine for $20....It seems that they upload their prices on DD for a lot of money and then a week later they start dropping down the price. Bonded clowns were $275 now they are already down to $200-225. Seems they are hoping they will get the uneducated to buy them for high prices quickly?
