Does anyone here have experience getting freshwater fish from live aquaria? My dad is interested in ordering a bunch of freshwater angels from them. I’m wondering if the fish are generally pretty healthy or if they’re plagued with disease like a lot of saltwater fish from LA are. I’m not sure where else to ask. Thanks!

It doesn`t matter where you buy your fish, it is always going to be taking a risk.I have bought from fish stores and online, sometimes ends up good and sometimes bad!If your dad knows a close by freshwater fish breeder would be what I would choose to do.

There’s not a lot of choices for freshwater where we’re at. We’re in St. Louis, and it’s weird that there’s like 10 saltwater LFS’s but none for freshwater. Petco and the like are pretty much the only options.

Isn't Live Aquaria and Petco almost one and the same.Divers den is getting really expensive. Same fish a Petco for 1/4 the price

My daughter has used them a couple times both with zero success although great customer service and quick refunds. She ordered cardinal tetra's and both shipments came in with a high mortality rate or didn't make it through 24 hours of QT. Bought some local and did fine.

Could be that fish doesn't ship well. Not sure.

Petco is the parent company of live aquaria so I'd save your money on shipping and buy from the local store if you have one close by. Plus you get to see the fish and pick them out

You know, from my LFS and service account days, fw angels never shipped well. Live aquaria would be a good place to try though, because of their guarantee. DD sometimes has angels in groups, so i would be confident in that.

In St. Louis, if you could find a breeder, that would be your best bet.

They don’t really carry the ones he wants. Otherwise he would.
