Just thought I'd share. I ordered 4 things: a tonga rhodactis mushroom rock, a dwarf pink feather duster, a midas blenny, and a green clown goby. They were slated for delivery today by 10:30 am, the coral coming from WI and everything else from CA (so 2 shipments). So OF COURSE, the one from CA got to KY (I'm in MI) and there was some kind of mechanical issue. Panic sets in. Then, 1 hr and 5 minutes later, it was showing as in Detroit. Surprising since commercial flights take 1 hr 20 min from there, but OK. I spent the morning watching it and it was taking FOREVER to progress. The coral package arrived about 30 minutes early, so I got that acclimating. About 11:10 am, I called UPS because my package had gotten to Ypsi (20 minutes from my house) but had been sitting there for 1.5 hours. Ugh. As I'm on the phone with UPS, telling me the package was still sitting in Ypsi, UPS arrived at my house with the fish - 40 minutes late. I was hoping the fish were OK and when I opened the package, they were alive! Step 1 success LOL. They looked like beautiful specimens too. I started acclimation and had 4 critters in various states of acclimation. It was a bit of a whirlwind. Now, everything is acclimated and in their respective tanks (coral and feather duster went into DT and the fish are in QT).

I had set up a 12 gallon QT tank last week. Unfortunately, it was a very old AIO (Marineland Eclipse 12) and the pump is integrated into the filtration system. And the pump died Saturday night and replacements weren't available. So Sunday I had to buy a new tank and set it up in a hurry. Figures - that's what I get trying to be frugal and use something I already had LOL.

Here's my QT tank (now a 9 gallon):

Here are my critters. It took my Midas Blenny less than 5 minutes to find the cave in the ATAT Walker. How cute! I can already tell he has an amazing personality. The mushrooms are pretty darn unhappy still, but they're improving with time.

Glad everything worked out on the shipping. I have UPS and Fedx hold my packages for me to pickup. Works out better for me as I am never home during the day

So far anyway. My clown goby is trying super hard to hide, but apparently I did't provide enough hiding places. I worked form home today to take delivery.

Good to hear that everything worked out... too many stories of people unhappy with LA.
Did your package include the 15% discount code for October? Many people are waiting for that code (including me)
Thanks

The one I have expires 9/30.

Thanks for quick reply... strange that they sent a Sept code with less than a week left!
Wonder if they are going to continue offering those discount codes
Yes, I clearly won't be ordering any livestock in that time frame. Do they do them monthly, or quarterly?

Also from MI and so far all of my LiveAquaria orders have come on time and in great shape. Make friends with your UPS person if you can. Mine also keeps aquariums and always wants to know what's in the box. LOL!

I do notice a huge differance in the packaging on order that come from WI vs CA. WI is always much better packaged than CA. CA is shipped via Quality Marine where as the WI is directly from Divers Den/LA.

The code for 15% off through the end of the month is REDEEM15

You can only use it 1x per account. I've used mine up for the month. ;)

Hi neighbor. I see you're also tattooed. I'm near Ann Arbor.

Great start! Be sure to check your ammonia regularly, just to be sure that the biofilter you seeded is working. Never had a clown goby, but if it is looking for a place to hide, you can try adding pieces of small diamert pvc (3/4" or 1" elbows) and see if it prefers those. I know they like to perch a lot maybe it is just trying to find a good perch?

Next step that will tell you that the fish are happy is when they start eating. Some need a couple of days to settle in so don't panic if they don't start right away.

I have an ammonia alert badge in the tank and so far, so good! He looked a bit better this morning. He's still in the same spot, but moving a little more within that 1" by 1" area LOL. Midas is eating well, so hopefully the goby will start soon. I may stop and pick up some more enticing food for him. Neither of them are interested in the pellets but Midas loves the frozen reef frenzy. What is more enticing than that? Mysis?

Others will have to chime in on best food for the goby, never had one. That said, live food like baby brine, blackworms, or copepods can stimulate feeding responses.

For the ammonia, the badge is a good thought, but I have learned not to trust them so much as to not do ammonia testing when starting a QT. Had one fail to warn me one time, and since then I test.

It was definitely lining up the first few days, but I'll do another test tonight. I agree it's important not to trust that exclusively, especially since I know there's uneaten food decaying in there.
