Does anyone dose live bacteria to help with algae, or is it not a thing? If so, what product and how often?

That’s not a thing.... what type of algae issues are you having ?

It’s a thing. Just triple the dose of Vibrant and watch your Macro algae refugium die and melt away. [emoji2957]

Seriously, I used Vibrant and it wiped out my cyano and nearly took out all my chaeto. The cyano came back in places after a month after stopping Vibrant. Check out Dr Tim’s. He has different strains of bacteria for different purposes.

The thinking behind the dosing is that our tanks become less diverse in flora over time. Having bacterial diversity helps enable bacteria populations compete for similar nutrients that fuel algae so that both strike a balance. The key words here are compete and balance.
