Live black worms

I recently purchased a copperband butterfly and I’m wanting to try and get it to eat. I read one of the foods that’s hard for them to resist is live black worms.

Where have people purchased theirs from? My LFS doesn’t sell them.

Thank you! Have you purchased before from them? I see the smallest size is 1/8 lb. how many worms is that?

I use to buy that 1/8 lb package. You have to read up on his site on how to keep them alive in the fridge.

My fish went crazy for them every time I fed them.

If you can keep them cool and don't let the water foul you won't have to buy more. They will multiply. I have purchased from them before

I've bought from this company before my lfs started to sell them. The keeper they sell keeps them alive for months as long as you change out the fouled water daily. I keep a jug of RODI water in the fridge and rinse them with that before I feed the fish. I also cultivate White worms in the case my lfs runs out of or can't get Black worms. They are really easy to cultivate, a container with some moist dirt and a piece of bread once a week to feed on and that's it.

It costs $2 from my lfs for one scoop. They say its about 2oz (or 1/8 lbs), but I never checked the weight. That amount can last up to a month, maybe more. no need to overfeed.
blackworms are freshwater worms, hence are not natural saltwater fish food. when I first dropped them in my tank, all the fishes got freaked out, its like I have a coral with live rock only tank. no fish in sight, including the copperband. they eventually got used to it and started eating. I only change the rodi once a week.
another option is to get the freeze dried black worms. copperband eats them just fine. live blackworms die within 10 seconds of hitting saltwater, so after 10 seconds, its probably not too different from the freeze dried worm.

I know this is an old thread but figured I would bump this up for more discussion. Thankfully my local store has live black worms. It's the only thing my blonde naso will eat. All the fish go crazy for them.

Received an order of Blackworms minutes ago. Apparently they should be kept cold as they came with a block of ice. Unfortunately I can't find them locally so will propagate white worms but wanted to try the black. Newer tank so don't have a lot of fish yet... at first none of the fish knew what to make of them but eventually they all (or most) took a taste and then it was a feeding frenzy.

Anyone had luck keeping them long term? All I could find was that they need to be kept in the fridge in a small amount of chemical free water (assume RODI works). Rinse them every other day or so. Any other advice?

That's what I do I have a black worm
Keeper. It stays in the fridge and I rinse them with filtered water daily.

I rip up strips of brown napkins, with a bit of RODI in a tupperware in the fridge. I changed the water every few days or when it fouls.

Check out Eastern Aquatics. You can order 1/8 pound up to 1 full pound. They have a video on how to keep them alive for 6 months. I order a larger amount to save on shipping and they keep for a long long time.

I can't get them here either but whiteworms are much better. Blackworms live about 5 seconds in salt water while whiteworms are the same size and live for 5 days in salt water. You buy a culture on Amazon and raise them. I have been raising them for quite a few yeas.
