hey, reefers,

I was on the Algae Barn web site today and saw the "Live Hatching decapped brine" and was considering getting some to feed my fish, corals & CUC. I have a 44g Brute container for water changes in the garage that's kept at 75F and I put my Fluval pump in it (upgraded sicce 0.5) pointing up from the bottom. The instructions for hatching these shrimp are "Unused portions must be kept chilled in the refrigerator at all times (do not freeze). To hatch, simply place desired amount of cysts in a small vessel with clean, well-aerated (via air pump) seawater. Most cysts will hatch within 24 hours at room temperature. Brine shrimp are most nutritious when fed out within 24 hours of hatching. Net the brine shrimp from the hatching vessel to feed (do not pour hatching water into the aquarium). "

So my question is if I order these three items, would that be sufficient to hatch these in this Brute bin? Not sure if it matters, but I also have Phosguard and some Chemi-Pure next to the pump. I appreciate any help.

So I pulled the trigger and ordered the decapsulated eggs and some ocean magik, I figure I can fatten em' up more before I feed them to my fish. I also ordered the brine shrimp hatchery disc. I'll keep this thread updated of my progress and how the tank seem to like them just in case anyone is actually reading this, lol.

How large is the tank you are going to feed? Mine is 70 gallon and I hatch a tsp every other day for my dragon pipefish

It's just a Fluval 13.5g, but I've already started looking at larger tanks...But right I just have two small clowns and a firedart goby. So I'll try to start with maybe a 1/8th of that? Also, do they need light to hatch, or is that just to attract them? Thanks

I think the brute is too large and you will not be able to collect them easily. I think you would have better success with a much smaller container and an air stone.

I was just going to float the hatchery disc (ill post a link to it) on top of the water if it lets me, I have the heater set 69 so I figure they will be ok with that.

You don’t need to float the Hatcher. Just set it on the counter at room temp and they will hatch just fine. The coke bottle hatchers work well too.

This hatchery is great have tried a few. Just set it on a flat surface in a room. If you float it the shells dead shrimp and live shrimp will mix making it hard to harvest basically it won’t work as intended it it is moved

That sounds good if not next time you can add a little more. They do not need light to hatch. They are drawn to the light (the center part of the hatchery) which makes them easy to harvest and why this hatchery is my favorite

I really appreciate the help, thanks.
