Live copepods

Will be getting 1000 live copepods later today. Do I need to accumate them and Should I put all of them in refugium or in display tank or split them up??

I acclimate them and split them up; usually a bigger portion into my fuge.

I am just getting my tank going and new to Saltwater tanks in general as I am coming from freshwater and I was curious about raising a colony of copepods for eventually adding a mandarin to my tank. Do I need to initially buy live copepods or is it possible that they might have hitchhiked on some of the live rock I received from my LFS?

You will have to buy an amount to keep a larger population.
