Does anyone put live plants in their Display Tanks? I see alot of your tank pictures and don't see plants in your reef tanks. By Plants I mean. Shaving Brush Plants, Mermaid's Fan Plants and Halimeda Plants. Is there a reason? I was thinking about getting plants, It would make the tank look more natural. And there are some benifits to growing them. Any thoughts on this?

I wondered the same thing. I think I'm going to try some haveing mostly fresh gulf live rocking my tank and I think it would make a neat addition.

I'm along for the ride on this one. Part of me wonders if the fish would eat it as opposed to leafing (see what I did there) them alone.

Lol I'm sure some tangs will like it. I'm going on vacation in a week but when I get back I'm going to put a order in to reefs2go cheap shipping in fl for me. I got some space in the back of my DT that some might fit in very well I think. I'll keep it posted when I do.

According to Live Aquaria the Shaving Brush and the Mermaid's Fan, fish won't touch them.

Keep us posted Pat Clark. Thanks for the reply

I've tried all that you name, and while some grew for a period of time (halimeda), none lasted long term.

The softer ones all get eaten by my fish. I intentionally put Caulerpa racemosa from my refugium and various seaweeds I collect at the shore for them to eat. They last a few days to a week before disappearing. :)
