So I’m about to get a tank from someone that has live rock currently in the tank. They said they may have bristleworms. I’d like to use the rock due to all the benefits but don’t want bristleworms in the tank. Can I dip all the rock in a coral dip to kill them off? Or would that kill all the good bacteria, etc. Any options?

I would not dip rock in any sort of pesticide and feel comfortable putting that rock back in my tank.

Here is what I found from the interweb "If you have bristleworms lodged in cracks and holes of your live rock, simply removing each piece of rock from the tank and dipping it in a bucket of dechlorinated freshwater for just a few seconds usually result in the worms pouring out of the rock and into the bottom of the bucket. "

... while killing all your beneficial bacteria needed for biological filtration.
Might as well bleach kill everything and start all over. That's what I'd do if I was concerned with unwanted pests.

Whats wrong with bristleworms? I would never dip rock personally. I love all the little creatures that come in on the rock that you can see and eventually grow. The rock is also populated with bacteria which will ultimately help bring stability. killing this stuff negates the benefit of live rock in my opinion, better off just adding dead rock.....

Worms are good for your tank. I have tons of worms in my tank with no problem. That is why it is LIVE rock. You may as well just get cheap dead rock. Regardless of what you do to the rock, you are not going to kill all the bacterial on it, however, it is the fauna and flora in/on the rock to make it LIVE rock.
