hey guys/gals. I have a 40 gallon breeder that has been up and running for about a year. i have a small amount of softies and 2 frogspawns. I want to redo all my rockwork. I have about 60lb's live rock. I don't like any of the peices. nothing stacks nicely and i can't get my aquascape to where i am happy. Also to top it off i am gettin my *** kicked by green hair algae and i just started seeing some cyano popping up. I want to get rid of most of my rock and get dryrock and make some nice scaping. What will that do to my biological filter? and will it mess up everything and cause me to go threw a cycle again or even kil my corals and fish?

If you remove to much of your live rock all at once you will be removing much of your bio-filtration which could cause a cycle. You can remove the old rock slowly as this will have less of an impact. You can also cure your dry rock for a few months in a separate container first. Just add some live rock to seed it with and a piece of raw shrimp to help the cycle.

yea maybe i will do that.. basically just fill a container with the rock some peices of live rock the dead shrimp and a powerhead?
