Running it in here for 4 days prior to aquascaping and setting up main tank

His gf fed a whole bottle of food while he was gone for a week and that’s started his problems lol
Actually the rock is not as bad as it looks, I would give it a good brushing in Saltwater, and a couple months treatment with Vibrant. The Vibrant is an amazing product , as I was using it on my sisters 1100 gal reef system, when they got a major algae out break from lack of proper maintenance on their tank. I finally talked them into using a service to take care of there tank, as of now I don't have the time to preform maintenance on her tank and mine.

Oh, sorry I didn't know that was the same rock, what an improvement, looks really good. I don't even know if you need to due a black out as it looks very clean in the photo.

Cheers! Tanks not ready yet anyways so I’m keeping it alive in the dark for now.

As long as you keep a heater and powerhead in there, it should be good to go when your tank is ready. Keep the lid on and keep it dark. Test the water to see how the phosphates are. If they're high, you're gonna want to do a water change. The only thing I'm not sure of is if you should add an ammonia source to keep the rock live. How long before your tank is ready?

Ammonia should not be added to live rock. It will stay live.

I dosed ammonia and it eats 4ppm in one day and the nitrate in a day and a half gonna get some fish this weekend

I have had no issues with this rock after blacking it out for a week and cycling in tank for 2 weeks with no lights, no algae 3 months in

That’s awesome! Glad you did the right way! How’s the tank? Did you get your fish?

It’s coming along brother! My first fish 5 of em died in quarantine after minor ich outbreak someone suggested coppersafe I dosed correctly verified sample, all fish died with in 4 hours... the guy that sold me copper claims it was the ich. Anyways since then I tank transfer everything before putting into dt.

Sure enough somehow ich is in the dt but all fish are good random random spot here an their they are essentially immune

Tank looks really good. Sorry to hear about your losses. That sucks. Hopefully fishes immune system will take over now and help. They look good. Thanks for the update. Take care and good luck.

Hope everyone is staying safe
