Hey guys I’m setting up a frag system, and i want to put the live rock in a seperate container instead of in the 50g Rubbermaid bin I’m using for the corals and racks. My plan was to overflow the bin to a brute trash can full of live rock and then that would overflow to a 20g sump with skimmer. I plan to have a pump to move water inside the brute can. I was also going to have a filter sock on the drain to catch detritus before it gets to the rock. Does anyone else do this? Or is this a bad idea?

I don't see any issues with that besides it seems like alot of containers. Have you though about using a large hob refugium like the aquafuge and just filling it with rock?

I want as much rock as possible for stability plus the added water volume helps too. I don’t mind the extra containers since the system is in my basement. I’m just worried about detritus settling in the trash can, but i will try to stack the rocks so water flows through it
