Live rock in frag tank?

I just set up my first frag/ cuc qt tank yesterday I'm super proud, bc after years of reefing I have learned enough tough lessons to now have both a fish qt and invert qt. It's a milestone that I hope continues positively. It's lit with two Current True Lumen leds (2 x 48" on 10 gallon, but I had them not in use) a Marineland hob filter, and cycled dt water.
My question is, is it necessary to have live rock? The filter has a small bio wheel. I know coral does produce waste, but I assume it's nothing like fish waste. From the pictures I've seen of frag tanks, they usually are barren.

The biowheel is enough, but you'll need some nutrients in the system or the corals will starve. Might be good to put a few snails or a hermit in there and feed it a pellet a couple times a week to get something in there.

Perfect, bc I do intend on quarantining cuc in there as well. I'm not used to such a small system.

I personally run live rock in my frag systems with several fish, I try to make my frag systems run as close to the main system they came out of to ensure they do well. Here is my new frag system.

If you wanna skip LR...add some marinepure... you DO need some kinda biological filtration.
