I have a new reef that's in the process of cycling. I have all "life rock" not to be confused with live rock. I needed another piece so today at my LFS I picked up really nice shaped 5 lb base rock. However, it was live rock. They had man made but the purple color they added is a different shade than what I have and I'm just that anal. And yes, I know it will eventually in time all match from Coralie growth but that's not today and that's not for months to come. So that leaves me where I'm at. The tank it came from looked to be very free of apstaia in fact I saw none as it was mostly man made rock in that tank. I realize there could be bristle worms inside as well. Is there a way I can kill off anything that might be hitch hiking without killing off the coraline algae? Can I just let it sit dry for 4 days??

Just leave it be IMO. If you let it sit dry the coralline will die as well and bristleworms are very good cuc, not something you should eliminate. You'd be much better off just leaving it alone.

I will leave it be then. Also anything I'm seeing about bleaching rock takes weeks. Im not a patient person and want it for my aquascape asap! Thanks for the advise. In the tank it goes!

There's a reason its' LIVE rock and I would take advantage of the living organisms and culture that it provides.
