Live rock like TB or others

I'd love to get my hands on really good live rock to put in my sump to seed my Marco dry rock and sand. Tank is 5 months ago but would love to blast it with good bacteria. Unfortunately I'm not buying 100lbs. The minimum shipping requirement it says. I meantime small pieces like 10lbs. I already have 120lbs of rock.

Any ideas where to get really good rock to help seed and allowed to get small amounts

Check to see if you have a good LFS in your area. My Local reef shop has a huge live rock system with cured, aged, coraline covered rock.

The rock is $8 per pound, but is a good option if you just want to pick up 10 lbs of excellent rock to seed a system.

No LFS I trust near me and from what I read. Lr from like TB is full of life and bacteria.

You can order less than 100 lbs. I just placed an order for 25 lbs. May not be as efficient for shipping purposes. I order from Tampa Bay LR

Yes I know, Ive ordered from them several times. Too bad nowhere near you has good rock. KP and GLR are both good, but they ship wet instead of submerged. Your also still looking at that larger shipping charge for small amounts of rock.

Never got anything from TB, but my KP is great. Covered in coralline, lots of life forms, no real die back of anything... but I’m close enough to them that I probably got it the day after they shipped, don’t remember for sure.

Put it in your tank. There is more good stuff than just bacteria in there... all sizes of pods, worms, sponges and other microfauna that will help with a really diverse tank. Some of this will benefit from the light and flow.

Edit: I forgot about mini, micro and normal sized brittle starfish.

TB website is a little confusing...you have to pay a minimum off 100 lbs airline freight charge, which includes water, packaging, ect. Basically if you ordered 10 lbs at $5.00/lb, you pay the 50 bucks when he dives for your rock, then .90/lb at airport with minimal 100lb charge...an additional 90 bucks at pick up. Bout 140 total spent. Hope that helps.
