For a 75 gallon tank, if you have 40 pounds of live sand, how much live rock would you need? Is there an exact ratio or is it more of a preference?

For rock the old rule of thumb is 1~1.5 lbs per gallon. More is better in my opinion.

For sand I usually go for 2 lbs per gallon, it usually gives 2"-3" sandbed. Using 1 lb per gallon usually gives a 1" sandbed, which I dont like, I prefer them a bit deeper. Sandbed depth is really up to your preference.

Howdy-
We suggest 2lbs ocean aquacultured rock per gallon and 1lb diver harvested live sand per gallon.
All live rock doesn’t need to be in the display tank, it can go in sump for cryptic zone, fuge for macros to attach...we have some customers who put rubble in overflow chambers & media chambers.
