Well I'm gonna put this out there and just curious to see if you guys have had the same results as I. I love zoas and usually keep them on dics or tiles for some reason some zoas grow slower than others:squigglemouth:for example my captain americas or pink n golds blue hornets and so on. Anyway I took em off the frag plugs and glued them to my Live Rock and sure enough after only acouple of weeks all of the zoas I put on my live rocks have taken off like wild fire:xd: I went from haveing 1 Captain America paly to haveing 8 within 2months and I can see babies every other week as for my Pink n Golds same story except more success those I actually have to frag because they are out of contol blue hornets same thing. Now mind you all of these zoas I have had for months I would say atleast 6+months and had very little growth on the frag plugs. So the question is Do you think that glueing zoas to live rock give you better and quicker growth as to a frag plug?below I included 2 pics I found of some zoas I put on live rock and they started to take off after only a month

I have thought this exact same thing. I think it has something to do with them being jostled around and molested by snails while on the racks (at least in my tank I load up on snails). And the movement of the frag plug will increase their time in which they "settle down" and start growing.

my 2 cents :)

Yea I ment to post this up some time ago but I just want to see if anyone else has experienced this and so far I see atleast someone has maybe other zoa collectors will chimme in

ThAts all I use in my new cube no frag plugs allowed besides the challis in the grow out.. just so much more pleasing to the eye man.... I personally don't like tanks riddled with plugs or disc..:(

They do grow quicker because they have more to attatch to and anchor themselves down with. They multiply faster when they feel stable. A flat disk has no place to grip so it take a while for the zoa to get comfortable, but once they grow onto the plug/disk they grow FAST. For a display off the plug is the way to go! Better growth and alot more natural looking!

if its a display tank you obviously want them on the rockwork...

as for frag tanks and propagation... plugs for sure. using rock would waste so much space and would make fragging much more difficult...

just my 2 cents

Yea I see you guys have good points I have a 29 biocube so my rocks are very convienent in size the plan is to cover some rocks with those slow growing zoas and see what happens but so far the growth on lr is amazing

I just came to same conclusion. I have a 2 frags of a zoa. One on rock, one on frag plug. They were both the same size. Now a month later, the one on lr ha over 40 heads and one on plug still has original 6.

what's you opinion than on using frag plugs that have texture? It would give the corals something to "grab" onto. hmmmm

They make plugs/disk that the coral side are like sand/rubble texture. So the coral has more to attatch to,these plugs/disks cost a little bit more though.

yea your right Kelby they do cost more but i think my dt wont have any plugs like Lee said thats what ill have my frag tank for just wish they grew as fast as on the rock
