Live rock placement

well I had three inches of Marine Pur in the back of my tank ( behind the false wall in my AIO)
I got back my triton test yesterday and they indicate very high levels of Aluminum, my next question was from where. They asked what I had and I told them they said remove more than half
( I actually removed all three) but I still have some marine Pur balls in my refugium

I bought 15 lbs of live rock from my LFS can I put the rock into my sump in the same area my skimmer is or where my return pump is until I rearrange the main display?
