Hey all I was wondering if I could take out a piece of live rock that I don't like in my tank? My tank is a 16 gallon nano and has been running for about 2 months. Right now I have 16 pounds of rock and the piece I want to remove is about 6 pounds. Will this affect the tank in any negative way?
 
... potentially, but not likely if the bio-load is light. remember that the live rock plays a role in tank stability, microbial fauna & denitrification, so you are reducing that ability by whatever ‘x’ percentage of rock you pull out.
 
Is it OK to place the removed rock into a quarantine tank Think I read that quarantined critters take to the rock very well. Also, don't put the rock back in the display tank.
