I think the grub is a massive spaghetti worm so he’s in with the rock now. And it’s the black spot on the second picture. Maybe black coralline?

The black as someone said is likely a sponge - and may or may not die. And agreed - about the ''grub' -

There’s a video of the worm. It has tentacle like things on the front. That’s why I think spaghetti worm. Overall no hitchhikers I’m unhappy with so far. Great aquacultured rock

OK - here is the story - you ordered live rock - you got live rock give it time to get out - and about - and then be concerned or not IMHO

Oh I agree. I knew what I was getting into. I’m honestly upset I haven’t found any crabs lol. Granted I hope I don’t accidentally introduce a gorilla crab to my display lol. But still I’m having a blast finding all these things. Just curious as to the species of what I’m finding. I’ve found all sorts of sponges, macro algae, pods, starfish, a few bubble algae (now removed lol), worms, bristleworms (kept), and even feather dusters. It’s all in qt with a prime lighting them in acclimation mode.

Never seen a spaghetti worm look anything like that. The ones I've had are more of a golden/tan color. Very long, thin arms.

Ahhhhh. I looked it up when you said it and couldn’t find anything. Thank you for that. So it’s dead lol. Well dying. Will pull it out then. My wife would flip if I had one of those whole lol

It could likely live alot of segmented polychaetes are like earthworms (actually really closely related earthworms evolved from polychaetes) but happy wife happy life lol. And that's my bad sorry about that its a common name and google shows a bunch of ribbon worms when you google it which is weird they don't even look alike.
