Obviously overnight air for next day or same day delivery is the best to keep as many animals alive as possible, but what about bacteria?

How long do you guys think the bacteria can live on the rock if the rock is wrapped in wet paper towels?

If these companies are still shipping with 2-3 day shipping and they’ve been doing this for years, is it possible that the rock is still somewhat alive 3 days out? Wouldn’t they quit offering 2-3 day shipping if it was completely dead? I don’t know. Just wondering what could stay alive 3 days out?

Used to get the ole Figi live rock in 24 hours. Them days are long gone... :(

Anyways...
We would brush it clean as we could with saltwater and soft brushes. Made the biggest mesh that you ever seen, but it was worth it.

Then, put in in the tank with lights off for six weeks and no skimming. It would stink ;Stinkyfeet up the entire house at about 10 days ;Yuck
That just means you got a good bacteria brew / going on.

After six weeks turn on the lights and it was like magic ;Singing ;Singing ;Singing

Your going to have die off not matter what, but you can use it to build a great bio-system.

Isn't that true @GoVols !!! My first batch was from Fiji back in 2000 and Harbor Aquatics the reseller. Great stuff and still have it today.

If you want live rock, and with the highest possible chance of it arriving 100% alive, then you need to contact Richard at TBS. He ships over night, air freight, submerged in water. That is about the highest chance of success there is when ordering live. No paper but of course with this comes a shipping premium. But if I had to do it over again, and this is from a lad who ordered 150 lbs dry Pukani in February, I would go with Richards stuff. Search, read, and see how it is. That and he is a swell guy too.

I think 3 days even in wet paper towels will still kill about everything. A lot of die off is an understatement!

We have several different methods of shipping for you to choose from. USPS Priority 2-3 day shipping or ups ground is free with all our packaged deals listed on our website. We only send ups ground on larger shipments within a 3 day shipping range from our location in Tampa, Florida (see pic below). All west coast locations will be shipped usps priority 2-3 day with the free shipping. We have been shipping this way to every state in the country (Excluding Hawaii) and Cananda for quite some time now with 100% success rate.

Ahhh....doubt that.
