If I did it today, I agree with @blaxsun to an extent....I would do it with pre seeded 'life' to accelerate the process a bit IMO. My live is very old , and didn't have near the amount of pests back then, to my experience. When supplementing and growing my base rock over the years I don't introduce any more live rock, it's not worth the headache of potential invaders. Got enough to worry about already lol

Seems like they have a very good selection of both fish and corals. Here in Utah where I live, we have probably 5 decent fish stores and none of them seem to have a good variety of fish or corals. Most of the corals are frags or very small corals or anemones. When I lived in California, the stores were usually stocked full of livestock.

I will be using live rock when I set up my new tank and I expect my tank to be completely cycled in about a week, probably less. I really want to avoid the algae problems that usually come using dry rock and worth the money to use live rock.

Start with dry, add some live to seed it and leave the lights off for a while. Let the dry get seasoned and ghost feed it for a few weeks before you start adding anything.

I have 3 stores in adelaide. 2 I trust.
This one is well stocked with livestock the other equipment.

My tank was cycled in 3 weeks. 3 chromis in at week 3.
Only fish I've lost is a carpet dive and bta. That went from thriving to dead. Likely tank too young.
No anemone for me for awhile
