So my live rock got stuck for 4 days during shipping and a bit of cold seems mostly dead but still a bit of color on it . I have 50 pounds of dry and 10 pounds of live just wanted the live for cycling/ seeding . If it's mostly dead what are the chances it will work for me

There may still be life on it but since most is dead I would definitely give it a good scrubbing and rinse before placing it in your aquarium to cycle. Some people prefer completely dead rock and seed it themselves to prevent unwanted hitchhikers. I bought some live rock from liveaquaria and had a lot of die off on it. Surprisingly a lot of stuff I thought was gone for good came back. You will probably just have a longer cycle. Good luck

When I say seed I meant with a bacteria additive. In time you will see a lot of pods and coralline show up just from new additions. I used snails with coralline encrusted shells to seed my tank. Just scrape a little off the shell in front of a powerhead.

I am currently planning on my nem tank build and will only use dry rock this time.

Thanks for the info :) I Dident scrub off my rock before it went in the tank tho will anything bad happen from this ?

you will have a big ammonia spike from the die off that's it, and it might smell real bad

Ok that shouldn't be a problem I'll leave the live rock in the tank and just keep up on my tests :) thanks again

So my liverock has been in the tank 7 days but still no ammonia but my nitrates are at 2ppm is this normal
