Hello, I purchased 30 pounds of live rock from a lfs . the rock was in a Styrofoam box wrapped in plastic. And all the rocks were still wet. I brought the rocks home and scrubbed all the junk off and let the soak in salt water with powerheads and a heater for about 2 weeks. I did 2 100% water changes in that time and all my ammonia and nitrite levels are 0 now. Nitrates around 40. Is this rock ready to go into my new tank? Or do i wait longer. Whats the sure tell sign I won't screw up my new tank cycle? Thanks

Any media where beneficial bacteria can be housed will go through its own cycle. So technically speaking your tank water will go through a cycle in proportion to the size of the media. If it's a huge amount it will basically reset the cycle. Smaller amounts will go through its own cycle without necessarily crashing the water.
