This might be the wrong forum to post on, but I got a bag of live sand in today. When I got it, it was very cold. The temperature today was under 32 at some points although I believe that the lowest temperature the sand was exposed to was around 35, are the organisms still alive, or should I try to get a refund?

I also got a bottle of live bacteria, might that be dead as well?

Are you asking if the bacteria is still alive in your live sand? If so then I would say yes, possibly dormant but I would still assume them to be live. As far as other critters go like snails, hermits and worms and such, open the bag and sift through the sand to see if they faired well. Chances are they would be fine also but if not, you can pick them out so they don’t degrade your water.

As far as the bottle bac goes, no it should also still be fine.

Thanks so much!
