Live sand

Does anyone know the shelf life of bagged live sand? Has anybody had any experience with this? Petco is offering off 30% (ends tomorrow) all online orders and I'm interested in getting Hawaiian black live sand. I'm in the middle of a 100g build and this price sounds good, but I'm not ready to use it yet.

Each bag should have a date on it. I think it is about one year.
