Hi everyone. I have a 75 gallon tank with 2 clownfish and 2 firefish. I would like to add some silversides but couldn't find any information on them. What do they eat? What kind of care do they need?

You from the Fredericksburg area

I am breeding Menidia menidia at work. They eat flake, small pellet, live brine. They will eat pretty much anything. They are a saltwater marsh fish and will tolerate full salt, but they are best suited to a slightly less salty area. I cannot say whether or not they will nip at corals. I feel they spend most of their day looking for their next meal.

They are so hard wired to breed you would have a hard time stopping them. We control it by introducing and removing spawning materials. Yes they lay eggs that day take about a week to hatch.

What are the spawning materials? Do you remove the eggs? What do the young eat?

Thanks for the info

We use pillow batting stretched very thin hung from the top. Yes remove the eggs to a shallow tray covering the floss with water. As they hatch they can be moved to a new home. We feed rotifers that we culture for this purpose.
