So I have never ordered from liveaquaria but have heard good things about them. They have a fish that I want and I was thinking about getting it from them but it is pretty comes here and I don’t want the fish to freeze. I also got confused because liveaquaria said they have their own shipping thing. Not sure what they meant. Would you recommend ordering a fish or not because it is too cold. It’s about 40 degrees here. Would they do anything to keep the fish warm or no?

I've ordered from them three times and 2/3 they were DOA. They reimbursed me (minus shipping, which sucks), but it was a bum deal. If possible, I'd always order from an LFS first, or consider someone who quarantines like TSM Aquatics or Dr. Reef.

Shipping via overnight carrier this time of year is really risky. FedEx and Ups won’t cover delays due to weather, and this week the Memphis hub is hammered. I had two shipments scheduled this week and postponed them both. If the shipment is large enough, consider shipping via air cargo.

I’ve ordered many things from them over the years. I’ve had a few DOA’s due to shipping delays. Weather related mostly. And a couple just bad livestock. They’ve always made good on their guarantee though. Back then It was the 14 day guarantee. I’ve not ordered anything since the 7 day guarantee started and the change of ownership. At least I think they’ve changed ownership. I would not order anything this time of year from them. Between covid and very low temperatures, it likely wouldn’t end well. Heat packs or not. Flights being cancelled, businesses shut down. I’m waiting for warmer weather before placing any more fish orders. And will also order at the beginning of the week. And will also check both main shipping hubs weather in Memphis Tennessee and Louisville Kentucky. Because you know if you order anything through ups and fedex, they’ll be going through those locations. Fedex being Memphis and UPS being Louisville. I’ve heard their livestock has gone downhill though. I might try divers den next go round. I’d also like to try Marinecollectors, TSM, or Drreefs livestock. Just don’t know if I could ever bring myself to trust anyone else’s quarantine procedures. If you’re not into quarantining yourself, you might look into those venders.

40's arent bad however you want to consider night temperatures and the temperatures at the receiving hub before routed to your home state.

You get different quality depending on the facility. I usually don't have any problems with livestock from the Wisconsin facility. The California facility on the other hand is pretty useless. The total combined experience in the Cali facility is a guy named Jim who had a gold fish once........

I would not be ordering from divers den it would be from the other facility if that changes anything.
Divers den is wysiwyg. And supposedly conditions fish before putting them up for sale. They receive more care than they would going straight through a wholesaler/quality marine-LiveAquaria. Their quarantine protocols would not be as strict as what I would do though. I have never ordered from divers den, so can’t give any feedback on which one is better. Divers den is “supposed to be better” though!!! Haha!

You'll probably encounter issues with Fedex than liveaquaria. I live in Minnesota (next door to Liveaquaria) and I wouldn't hesitate ordering from them with 40 degree weather. I've ordered from them at -20.

Yeah fedex is horrible. Bought a divers den mandarin and fedex put it in a truck at 7am and delivered it at 4pm in freezing weather

I would wait. I have ordered from both DD and LA. DD holds the fish for 1-2 weeks. They are WYSIWYG. Still need proper QT. LA I don't think even handles the fish. They are drop shipped from the Los Angeles wholesalers. Neither of the 2 package their fish very well. Certainly not for cold weather. I would wait until you can guarantee clear weather. I would also only order sensitive fish like a radiant wrasse through DD, not the California facility. The packaging doesn't even come close to TSM.
