just got some new liverock in I don't particularly like the shapes of all the rock to fit the scaping I want in my tank, would there be any harm in maybe taking a hammer and busting one of the bigger pieces up without it completely shattering? the rock is real reef rock and not man made. thanks !

Might want to also use an old chisel to give you more precision when you are shaping your aquascape; easier to remove small pieces than to put them back together! And even though you will probably end up with some obvious cut lines, something will grow over them soon enough. Good luck

As said Before a hammer and chisel works well. If you know anyone with a coral saw that works great for precision cuts.

+1. I have good splits with a chisel. Sometimes a hammer alone you can end up with more rubble with less precise cuts.

Do as you please, it wont hurt the amount of surface area the bacteria will use because well, a small rock is still a rock and will hold bacteria.

IF YOU HAD TO TAKE A REEFING EXAM, WOULD YOU PASS?
