Corals fish anemone , within reason could /should one add to a 400g freshly cycled tank, planning on getting juveniles, that will grow to a maximum 7". We are using kessil a360's for ligh the tank is 12'x2'x27" deep. On 500 gal/ph fluval canister pump, a800g/ph return pump, & 2 gyre xf 150 power heads and an octopus regal 220 sss skimmer, and refugium any advice is welcome Cheers!

Those kessils will need to be close to water to get good growth near bottom I use them and love them, have you considered the ap700 or supplement lighting to go with? Marbled cat shark!!

We did consider the kessil a700's but due to budget restraints (and I got a screaming good deal) we went with the a360's . The assthetics of both lights is appealing, the price was really good and I'll be able to put more cash towards livestock and equipment I wouldn't otherwise be able to get.

You will love the 360 they are really nice. I'd start them at about 8 " above water see how the light coverege. You should try and find some flat live rock to make shelves. I don't think a anemone will be happy on bottom of a 27" tank with kessil. I have had anemones under them but my tank is only 20" deep.

We really liked the led lights & effects, we figure plants/ animals that prefer lower light settings will be lower in the tank, from what I can tell the anemone will move around some until they find an spot they like,I'm hoping I can provide enough variances in flow to accommodate a few different corals as well

I grow lps and sps no problem with mine. And I use old korila power heads. You should be fine placement will really dictate what you can grow. If I had a tank that big I would have a marble cat shark. Google marble cat shark.

Oh and one last thing. You probably already know this. With the amount you can have in that tank. Fallow a very strict QT protocol. You should anyway I don't, and am planning to in future. But the amount of fish you could lose just by putting one sick fish in that system could be devastating

I picked up a decontamination tank this afternoon,20 g we plan on keeping pests to a minimum I've been researching stuff like mad, trying to get as much info as possible to make well educated decisions.in an attempt to minimize disappointment & maximize enjoyment

If you follow qt lots of info on this site about it. You should be fine. I would start looking I liveaquaria.com and other sites like that for fish you want and put a list together and put it on here for people to comment about safety and compatibility. really with a 400g you can have anything, but there may be an order to add the fish, also some fish will eat shrimp or crabs. So really figure out what you want and ask. I know for me I would have as few tangs. Blond Naso, purple, Achilles.

are you going to be using a sump?? I don't think a 800gph canister will cut it. I use a 1300 gph return pump on a 125.

Sorry miss read that. 500 gph canister and 800 gal return pump. Still seems way low for me. What size over flow holes do you have and how many

Yup will have a sump with protein skimmer mad well as the canister pump , a fluval fx5. It puts out 900 g ph plus the 2 gyre 150 power heads

Probably get eventually 5 assorted tangs, they will likely be last in, will need a cleaner crew ,looking for a happy assortment of shapes colors and textures that will get along, not a predator tank
