Just finished cycling my 15 gal tank. Just wanted to get some idea on what exactly to get in terms of CUC , etc. I know I want to do a clownfish but what else? Should I get coral?

For CUC I would start with 5 snails, Mexican turbos and nassarius. And maybe a shrimp, a cleaner shrimp would be the best. Clownfish are probably the first choice for a tank of this size. I would only add one more fish on top of this. Maybe a goby or blenny. For corals, do you have the proper lights and parameters to start with that?

I would do trochus snails - my mexican turbos are huge and they are a cooler water species....

Trochus are hard workers and they can flip themselves back over if they fall. They can also shake off pesky hermits. There is a reason they cost more than other snails :). They are a popular choice!

I usually start with a small # of snails and add more if needed... maybe 3-5 trochus unless they are small babies, then you could get a few more. It really depends if you have enough algae/film algae for them

nass snails eat left over food (not algae tho just FYI), they hang out under the sand bed

cleaner shrimp don't really clean the tank, will eat food or whatever and steal it from corals, they are fun to watch though but not part of CUC imo - you can get one if you like them but its more ornamental. I love the way they look but don't keep any as they annoy my corals which annoys me lol

I have standard UV lights white and blue settings.

This one won’t work?
That light would be a good light to start with. You can definitely grow corals with it, you said standard lights so this is not what I thought you meant.

The only thing you would have to figure out with this light is par readings and how strong they are in order to provide good placement for corals.

I personally wouldn’t even think of clowns in a nano. After branching out further into nano fish, I really believe clowns belong in larger tanks so you can have all the more uncommon to rare fish very few people know about. For example, I started my nano for a specific fish I had never seen before, and it branched into a goby heavy tank with that fish in it (Discordipinna griessingeri) .
P.S. the two wrasses are temporary, these are simply growing out in here to go into my larger tank with the rest of my wrasse gang.

The only way I’m getting away with 9 fish is all of them are peaceful and low bioload. Would I add more than 9? Most likely not unless I knew it would
A. get along with my fish,
B. Remain small and not so active,
C. Have a low bio load.
